Jacomo is known for its colorful sailboat regattas, slow-moving pontoons and paddle boats. The lake was a gift from President Harry Truman, who wanted to create a resort for the county’s citizens. Its name is an acronym for Jackson County, Missouri. Within the Blue Springs community and adjacent to Blue Springs Lake is the breathtaking nine hundred and seventy-acre Lake Jacomo, one of Jackson County’s premier recreational areas. To simplify your decision about where to start, we’ve curated a list of popular recreation spots that are easy to get to (about an hour or less away) and will have you communing with nature in no time. These are a few memories you can make this season when you pack up your swimsuit and flip-flops, fill a cooler with your favorite snacks, dust off your tackle box, grab your fishing pole and invest in some short-distance travel time. Imagine the smell of hot dogs cooking on the grill, the anticipation of s’mores around the campfire, and kids capturing fireflies in a grassy meadow or getting their feet wet in a cooling stream. We’ve found a dozen spots to help you enjoy the great outdoors without having to fill a tank of gas. Shelter reservations guarantee use of the shelter only - no other conditions implied.Looking for a Lake Escape that isn’t a day’s drive away? Please think of others, leave the shelter and tables clean for the next user. However, due to frequent use and exposure to the elements, we recommend that you check your site prior to your reservation for shelter condition.

Trash is emptied and shelters are cleaned on a regular basis by Parks Department personnel.These dates are subject to change depending on weather conditions.

Park restrooms are generally closed around the 1st week of November through the last week of March.See special use permits to see if your event meets the criteria. Some events require a Park or Shelter Special Use Permit in addition to a shelter reservation.Maintenance staff may not be aware of any last minute changes to rentals and may effect the cleanliness of the shelter site.

When inquiring to update rental time same day of rental, this can be done without charge based on availability. Requests for refunds are subject to a $7 administrative processing charge, and transfers are subject to a $5 transfer fee. before refund or transfer can be processed. All Facility Reservation Contract paperwork must be returned to the Parks and Recreation Counter prior to the contract reservation date and time and no later than the last Parks and Recreation business day of operation by 3 p.m.

Requests for refunds or transfers must be made prior to reservation date and time.

A permit will be issued and must be with you during the use of the shelter or facility, as proof of your reservation.

(We cannot hold reservations without payment.) Phone reservations may be paid with a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit or debit card.

Shelter reservation fees are due at the time of reservation.

The only exception is Hidden Valley shelter, which may be reserved 30 days in advance.

Shelters and facilities may be reserved up to 1 year in advance of the desired date.

The following policies apply to reservations: Choose a date, time, and facility, then call the administrative office at 81, come to the Fieldhouse, 425 NE Mock, to make a reservation or reserve online. Several of the city's picnic shelters and facilities are available for reservation.
